The Journey of a Leader; the story of Gaming.RP

‘Gaming.RP is form (in AY2003) by a group of enthusiastic gamers as well as a bunch of friends who are willing to help out one another and was officially setup, with corporate values and objectives. Events organized by other groups are only considered SLA’s Activities. Henceforth, the level of professionalism/focus/expectation/pressure can be very different (those who have been involved experienced it).

Students takes the full initiative to plan, design & organize a Wireless LAN game competition & exhibition (in RP) that focus on the past, current and future of games and how it has combined art, technology and science, and created a new field of study, education & career.’

4 years have passed.

People come and go, as they proceed on in life, going through National Service, graduation, starting their own careers, making their dreams. These were the people who were with Gaming.RP since the beginning, and lay out the foundation of the club that has fortified over the years. They started with the objective of making what others deemed quite impossible, a vision where others does not look upon, a group who took the risks to greater heights, and make the best out of it.

As a group where others always perceived in a negative manner, the history of the club has changed gradually, and became one of the most respected groups in Singapore on a tertiary level.

‘United We Stand, Divided We Fall’

The club won’t have be where it is today without the support from everyone.

I thank everyone who has supported the club till today, from the founders to the leaders today.

Thank you all.

All Good Things Will come to an End, But New Things will Produce Something Better!

Hi all. After such a long period of maintaining the blog, it will be emigrating to a new website soon, and I will be moving my content to it.

I thank all the 39000+ readers who had visited my blog in the past 2 years.

Once I transfer my contents over, I will post the link for those who are always on the lookout for the content, so that you can find it easily.

I will be transferring my materials over slowly, so no worries about that, just that the blog may cease to have its own existence after the content are transferred over. So remember ! Visit my new website once it’s done!

Buying the Right Mouse ! – That Gaming Guide

Filed under: Latest Technology & Software, Tutorials/Guides — Jasper Mah @ 7:01 pm

When we usually talk about mice that we plug into our computer or notebook, we seldom notice how efficient a mouse can be, when it’s placed in the hands of manufacturers who seek to produce high-end gaming equipments for consumers, mainly gamers and PC enthusiasts.A common mouse becoming so powerful?

Indeed, in the very world of gaming and professional designing, users tend to look for the mouse that provide the best features according to what they want.

Mice of such categories, are priced normally beyond what you may expect from your corded mouse that you use everyday. Those mice have features, commonly far more advanced than your normal mouse.

Have you ever heard of

- “On-the-Fly Sensitivity”?

- “DPI = DOT PER INCH”?

- “2.25x faster than your common mouse”?

- “Hyper-response Buttons that are programmable by you?”

You don’t normally see all these features in your normal everyday mouse. What makes these mice special, and the reason that you could, or should invest in them, will be shown in today’s guide to buying a mouse.

Normally these mice in Singapore can be worth from minimum of $40, to over $150!

Of course, in today’s guide, it is to illustrate in how to invest the right amount of money, to get a mouse that fits your budget, and also fit certain features that you might want to take note, while buying a gaming mouse.

Mainly, I would also tell you, why a gaming mouse, would be a good investment, that you will derive from your gaming sessions that you have, compared to that normal household mouse you use for your desktop or notebook.

Jasper – My life as an Event Coordinator

Filed under: Daily stuff, Every Little Thing — Jasper Mah @ 1:01 am

Hi all, welcome back to StyleZ.Blog. It’s been a long time once again since I posted in this blog, so in today’s article, I will talk about part of my working life, as an event coordinator.

Especially with my focus on articles of gaming and events, I shared with my readers before that I belong to Gaming.RP a.k.a Gaming.Republic.

This group is dedicated as a tertiary-level of event organisers that target the organising and business elements within a gaming event, such as a LAN competition or an exhibition.

In short, we are what is seen in Singapore as the smaller version of Rapture Gaming, the organisers of the World Cyber Games in Singapore. So, my life as an event coordinator is a rather hectic and stressful role, but it also contain the fun elements.

Who am I working for?

- Republic Polytechnic (Role : Event Manager; Event Coordinator)

- Rapture Gaming (Role : Event Partner; Manpower Coordinator)

- Asiasoft (Role : Logistics and Manpower Coordinator)

- Intel ( Role : Manpower Coordinator)

- JOS ( Role : HR Coordinator; Chief Student Engineer)

Especially Asiasoft, is the one company that I will be attending the interview today for, a holiday part-time role. I will assist in the coordination of logistics and manpower for the Gaming Convention Asia 2007, a event where game publishers and gamers congregate at the Suntec Convention Centre once again to bring in latest games and compete for the top title, especially for the WGT 2007, World GameMasters Tournament, proudly sponsored by Asus and Intel.

As an Event Coordinator, like me, I look into all the elements of event management, and I learned from scratch without any modules or notes. I take into the whole events management aspect such as :

- Event Coordination

- Event Sponsorship

- Event Structure

- Manpower Coordination

- Human Resource Management

- Leadership Training

- Teamwork Training

- Workshops Coordination

- Event Partnership

- Media Publicity

I’m part of the gaming industry as you can see, and it involves every single element :)
